Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit

I first saw this palette on an Instagram post and instantly knew that I needed it in my life! So off I went to my local MECCA store and I will admit, when I first saw the palette I was expecting it to be a lot bigger because it looked larger in pictures but it was still beautiful regardless.

I already have a couple of Hourglass products in my collection so I knew the quality would be good. The packaging was very simple and elegant which is the same with all Hourglass products, however, in this case the palette is in a cool toned Gold colour and also has a mirror inside which is a huge plus in my opinion.

One of my first thoughts when I saw this palette was that it would be perfect for travelling as it contains two setting powders, a highlight, a bronzer and two blusher options – what more could you want!?

The palette is described on the Hourglass website as “The ultimate portable luxury, this limited-edition wardrobe of handmade powders, blushes, bronzer, and the debut of the new Ambient® Strobe Lighting Powder – an illuminating powder to create the perfect highlight. This palette of best-sellers was designed to give you the complete Ambient® Lighting wardrobe in a clutch-worthy compact, perfectly sized for any occasion.”

• DIM LIGHT – A neutral peach beige powder that blurs imperfections and highlights the complexion.
• DIFFUSED LIGHT  A soft, warm, pale yellow powder that conceals redness and gives skin clarity

These are the two setting powders is the palette. These powders are not completely matte, so they do have a slight shimmer to them which I personally quite enjoy as it gives a slightly different finish to most of the setting powders in my collection.

I definitely prefer the Diffused Light shade because my normal go to setting powder is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Banana Powder so it would only make sense that I would prefer the pale yellow shade.

I find that the Dim Light shade is a bit darker than what I would normally use to set my under eyes, however, I would use this if I wasn’t highlighting my under eyes or alternatively I would use it to set the rest of my face.

LUMINOUS BRONZE LIGHTA medium tan shade fused with Luminous Light for a softer, candlelit warmth.

The bronzer is beautiful and I have always wanted to purchase an Hourglass bronzer! I love the finish of this bronzer because it’s not matte but also not a full on shimmer. It’s unlike anything else that I have in my collection, but if I was going to compare it to anything, then I would say that it’s somewhere between MAC’s Give Me Sun! and MAC’s Gold Deposit.

• LUMINOUS FLUSHA champagne rose blush fused with Luminous Light to evoke a candlelit glimmer.
• MOOD EXPOSURE – A soft plum blush fused with Mood Light to brighten the complexion.

These blushers are another thing I had always wanted to purchase from Hourglass as they just look so pretty! Both of these colours are unlike anything I already own and are both beautiful colours.

I personally thought I was going to like Luminous Flush the best, however, after using these blushers a few times, I have decided that I actually prefer Mood Exposure on my skin tone!

• IRIDESCENT STROBE LIGHT (NEW)  A rose pearl powder that gives a refined glow to the complexion.

This highlight is something I knew I would love as I do already own an Hourglass highlight and use it on an almost daily basis! It is quite similar to “Luminous Light” Ambient Lighting Powder, also by Hourglass but with a slightly more pink undertone.
